Fire Safety

Fire accident can happen at any place be it home, business or workplace. Whether your home or workplace is at risk depends on your preparedness to deal with the situation.

Here are some few general tips to prevent fire breakout:emergency1

  • Stay in the kitchen when frying, grilling or broiling food
  • Keep space heaters one (1) meter from anything that can burn
  • Ask smokers to smoke outside and provide a deep sturdy ashtray
  • Keep matches and lights out of the reach of children, preferably in locked cabinet
  • Inspect electrical cords and replace or repair loose or damaged cords
  • Extinguish candles when leaving the room or going to sleep
  • Prepare and practice a home or office fire escape plan
  • Install smoke alarms in the home or office
  • Test smoke alarms monthly
  • If you must escape through smoke, get low and go to your exit
  • Remove grass and weeds inside the boundaries and 3 meters radius outside the boundaries of your property
